Quick Answer

Sourced 2026-09-06 — documented facts only

Herbs in The Blood of Dawnwalker serve two documented purposes: the prologue's life-or-death brew for Esme (hot water + three spoonfuls, per four independent sources) and the main game's consumable loop. The prologue's big stash is the eleven-bundle haul from the Latin lesson — three bundles hide behind a collapsed shed door. Anything without a reliable source stays marked ? on this page.

Herbs look like a throwaway pickup in the prologue's first minutes — then the game makes the first one you prepare a life-or-death decision. This page collects every documented fact about the herb economy: what they are used for, where the stashes are, and which skills make them count later. Where public sources have nothing reliable to say, the page says so instead of filling the gap.

What Herbs Are Used For

Two documented uses, in order of when you meet them:

1. Esme's medicine — the prologue brew

The first and highest-stakes use. Withering Away, the prologue's opening errand, has you brew medicine for your mother Esme at Anca's house. The correct preparation — hot water plus three spoonfuls of herbs — is the most cross-checked fact in the prologue: four independent sources agree. A wrong temperature, a wrong dose, or an unfinished task at the Blood Mass is reported to cost Esme her life at the Sacred Covenant resolution.

2. The consumable and alchemy loop

From the main game onward, herbs feed consumables — and two skills make the economy worth caring about:

That last row is deliberate. Several sites imply complete spawn maps, but no guide we would cite documents one location-by-location with verification. Until one does, this page keeps the map at ? rather than repeating unverified pins.

Herbs by Region

  • Laslea Glen (prologue) — the only region with documented herb activity: the brew errand, the gathering, and the Latin lesson haul.
  • Vale Sangora (main game) — the 30-day open structure where the alchemy loop opens. Which herbs spawn there, at what rates, is not yet documented in any source we would cite: ? until tested.

What This Page Deliberately Does Not Do

  • No invented herb names. No source we would cite lists the game's herb species individually; until one does, "herbs" stays the honest unit.
  • No respawn timers. Undocumented everywhere we checked.
  • No sell prices. Undocumented; a single-site number without corroboration does not go on this page.

These gaps close the moment a reliable source — or our own testing — documents them.
